ABOUT US

My name is Richard and welcome to the Wild Atlantic Bus. I have transformed this 28 year old double decker bus after its life’s work transporting people around England and Ireland into a unique holiday and accommodation experience. Over the years I have transformed many beautiful VW Campers, but the bus has been my biggest project to date. Visit my regularly updated gallery to follow the restoration from beginning to end.

The bus is located on the outskirts of Oughterard, County Galway in the heart of nature near my country cottage and only a five minute walk down a country lane to the famous Lough Corrib, one of the last remaining native brown trout lakes in Europe.

Oughterard is well known as the gateway to Connemara which forms a major part of the Wild Atlantic Way, the largest coastal route in Europe. On the doorstep of the Wild Atlantic Bus you have an abundance of beautiful and scenic walks and our bus is located on the Western Way which starts in Oughterard and ends in the beautiful town of Ballina Co Mayo.

Oughterard is the local town and a five minute drive from the Wild Atlantic Bus or a twenty minute walk. There are numerous shops, many lovely pubs with traditional Irish music and a great range of restaurants and places to eat. Galway city is thirty minutes away and should not be missed! The Wild Atlantic Bus is perfectly located for exploring this part of the country and staying with us will give you a new and unique experience. I am sure you will leave with happy memories of your stay.
